When the economy is booming …
It is time to ‘Future Proof’ YOUR career!
More than 85% of the Maltese population believe that the economy in Malta is performing well, the fourth highest percentage in the EU Country polls. A third of Maltese believe that the economy will continue in this boom even during the next year. The EU is enjoying an unsurpassed level of optimism by its citizens since 2014. These conclusions result from the latest Eurobarometer study with a sample size of 500 Maltese citizens interviewed only last June, 2019.
Your good sense knows that anything that is too good will not last forever, and an inner voice tells you that you need to invest in yourself in readiness to any future downturn to mitigate against the possibility of a slump. You must make sure you remain employable throughout your working age, by assimilating knowledge, skills and competence that are timely and sought after.
Stock take your competences
Carry out a SWOT analysis of your cv … will it be adequate when Malta is not experiencing full employment?
Many individuals get caught out falling behind - as they gain experience, they lag in formal academic qualifications. You may have secured a dream job at age 18, giving you the income that led you to believe that you will face no further financial issues! But as your expenses increase due to life exigencies, realisation strikes you that you are right at the bottom with little or no prospects to climb the corporate ladder. And newbies have joined with far superior qualifications than you!
There is no doubt, therefore, that you should be prepared to use the current windfall in the Maltese economy, and invest part of what you are earning in securing your future. Prepare yourself to leapfrog others to a management role. Add a formal academic qualification that gives you an advantage to the thousands graduating every year.
