Reading for an LSE degree
The option to read for an LSE degree is open to all suitably qualified students. Reading for your undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science is a great experience and life changer. But not every one is able to secure a place at this prestigious institution, whilst some may find the relocation from their home Country an upheaval whilst tuition fees and living in London may be beyond their means.
Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education is an Affiliate Institution for the University of London, and as from 2003 offered the opportunity to Maltese and international students to read for University of London degrees under the academic direction of the LSE here in Malta. Whilst students attend lectures at Saint Martin’s, they are examined (examination papers are prepared, and marked whilst the Ministry of Education and Employment Registrar of Examination organises the examination sessions) by the examination boards of the LSE, and their final degree is conferred by the University of London in a graduation ceremony in London.

BSc (Hons) Accounting & Finance
BSc (Hons) Business & Management
Students who attend classes at the Institute are necessarily taught with rigour and adopted methodology to reach the standards required by the examining boards of the LSE. There is only one University of London, and after students complete their academic programme at Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education, they will graduate and become a member of this prestigious seat of learning for life!
The Institute does not try to portray something that it is not. Saint Martin’s Institute is not the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and lecturers teaching for these programmes are Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education employees. The Institute has its own values, character and competences, and these have proven throughout the years to be fit for purpose in preparing students for their examinations by the LSE examination boards, and subsequently graduate from the University of London. The many testimonials of alumni of Saint Martin’s bear testament of the dedication of the Institute’s academics towards their students. Many students who studied at SMI throughout the years have achieved the coveted first class honours for the LSE led programmes, and one was even awarded a full scholarship to read for his postgraduate degree at the London School of Economics & Political Science.
