Matsec Results are Out
What’s next? …
The mid-July heatwave brought with it the stress of examination results for thousands of Maltese students, and their parents. The announcement of the SEC and MatSec level examinations results determine the progression towards higher education and subsequently a career.
When possibilities are infinite, choosing is rendered even more difficult.
Graduating is a must and not a luxury!
Anyone who believes that an undergraduate degree is a waste of time and effort should think twice. With hundreds of jobs set to disappear in this decade alone, survival depends on the creative knowledge and skills that an individual possesses. Whilst the world of work is being rehashed with the powers of Artificial Intelligence, we at Saint Martin’s Institute are focused on developing Human Intelligence. Our belief is to enable our students to learn to harness and wield technology for their advantage.
What to look out for when choosing a university degree?
The Institute is offering students the opportunity to graduate from a University of global reputation. A degree is for life, and selecting the right University will be a guarantee, in itself, of a very long expiry date. A degree’s worth is measured by the trust that current and future employers have in the University itself. The University of London is a world class seat of learning, with its institutions ranked among the top 100 world-wide.
Our reputation relies primarily on a highly experienced faculty.
Education relies on academics and lecturers who possess the affinity and dedication to teach and research their respective field of expertise. We cannot offer the personal attention that each student deserves with a faculty of part-time individuals popping over to deliver a lecture. Tertiary studies are overwhelming for the vast majority of students, and many are lost when they are left to fend for themselves. Our academics are readily available and mentor each student to his/her level of excellence!
We go out of our way to ease learning, without trashing standards!
Even if we are ever tempted to decrease standards — we cannot! At Saint Martin’s, students graduate by sitting for examinations as set and marked by the University of London, and there is no way such a University will ever but its reputation at risk to accommodate a teaching centre. We teach — the University examines and confers the degree.
Our pride and joy is the excellent results that the Institute’s students have attained, year on year, since the very first graduation ceremony of 2004!
A structured programme that aims to minimise stress.
Academic stress usually emanates through the unknown and unplanned challenges that students have to face. We do not get any kick from stressing our students. On the contrary, our faculty feels obliged to present students with a clear path of what needs to be achieved to qualify, and a plan on how to get there. At Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education students do not get any surprises that derail even the best of them. Academics are eager to support students in their care throughout the three year journey, through a pedagogy of small yet regular challenges that contribute to their learning.
At Saint Martin’s Institute, classes are kept at a manageable number of twenty students. We have one intake every year, and applications are accepted from students who possess the minimum qualifications of four ordinary levels, including Mathematics and English, at grades 1 to 5 if SEC or grades A to C for GCSE. A Matriculation Certificate or International Baccalaureate, are deemed as important assets, but students are encouraged to apply even if they do not possess either.
All programmes are Accredited by the MFHEA under the European Quality Framework/Maltese Quality Framework
Maltese EU accession meant that our higher education sector became integrated with that of the European Union — that is meant to guarantee mobility of citizens across national borders. Notwithstanding many Maltese students are falling to the trap of unworthy qualifications.
Saint Martin’s Institute will be celebrating its fortieth anniversary since its inception in 1985, and its success is all due to its focus on quality education and top class qualifications on offer that must last for a lifetime. Thousands of Maltese and international students know their education to the Institute.
For each ECTS (European Credit) the awarding institution must prove that the student has attended 5 hours of in-person lectures and in addition put 20 hours of self-study. A Diploma certificate where a student is asked to attend for less than 300 hours of lecturing does not qualify as a diploma, even if the certificate says so. For an undergraduate degree at Bachelor level, lecturing hours must be 900 and divided into three years (no one can graduate in less than three years of study according to the Bologna Process of the EU) and for a Master degree one has to put in 450 hours of mentored tuition. Don’t be gullible! Anything less is not worth the money and effort.
