How much is your child’s career worth for you?
It all boils down to YOUR priorities.
Reading for a degree means debate and discussion, and it is desirable to provide individual attention through small groups in tightly knit institutional communities as are Maltese private independent schools. Lecture theatres packed with hundreds of students listening to a professing lecturer, with little or no opportunity to enter into any debate, let alone one-to-one mentorship, is counterproductive, as so many students realise when it is too late
Why choose the University of London Degrees at Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education?
No resits necessary for your child to register with the University of London;
No tuition fees need to be paid during your son’s or daughter’s study period;
Stipends and maintenance grants are paid throughout the three year degree;
Only 30% of the expenses (around €5,000) are payable after completion.
What drives parents to pay so much attention to secondary schooling, but not towards the choice of university?
Surprisingly parents pay a king’s ransom in compulsory schooling and private tuition fees to save on university tuition fees!
The NSO reports that 7,500 students attend private independent schools in Malta, and another 16,200 attend Church schools. This figure means that 72% of Maltese parents do an effort to actively participate in their children’s education, believing that their children have a better chance to advance in their future careers in private schools than the state schools.
Children enrolled at private independent schools can cost anything between €50,000 to €80,000 through the decade between age 8 and their Matriculation Certificate exams. Is it money down the drain? Didn’t think it would be money wasted.
Would you be surprised to know that the net cost for a three year University of London degree is of circa €5,000? Yes, through the Government’s option for using your own taxes to partially finance your child’s higher education, as well as an interest free and unsecured loan to see your child through their degree, plus the payment of stipends and maintenance grants, makes the University of London option a very viable one!
The Government of Malta provides substantial assistance to parents who are supporting their son or daughter read for a degree at private institutions.
For every ten Euro paid by a parent for a child’s undergraduate degree at Saint Martin’s Institute, the parent in employment and paying for a child’s tuition fees is able to recoup SEVEN Euro as an income tax rebate!
Parents therefore can make the best choice for the wellbeing of their child!
What is the way forward for those who have not achieved their Matriculation Certificate with all the advanced and intermediate level passes required for their course of choice?
According to the University of Malta website for 2021 admissions, applicants who will be sitting for resit examinations in the September/October 2021 session should apply for their preferred course and allowed to attend their course provisionally until their resit results have been published and the outcome of the application is communicated to the student in December 2021.
In other words your child’s future is all dependent on his/her performance in the resit exam, and if the desired grades are not obtained, they are made to retire from their course losing a whole year in their education! Is repeating the year worth more than the money spent?
We really think not!
