Experiencing Amsterdam
Through an ERASMUS+ Traineeship
Erasmus+ gave me the opportunity to experience what it would be like to work and live in a foreign country, my dream for as long as I can remember. And it was simply great … and highly recommended!

“The first two years as a computing student at Saint Martin’s were of great benefit and relevance for the work I was doing at Super Agency B.V. The courses I was following for my Bachelor’s Degree proved to be helpful during my working experience. “
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had this dream of trying my luck in living in a foreign country. However, as many of us can imagine, this is not the easiest of decisions one has to make, and for good reason. The opportunity given by Erasmus+ with the collaboration of The Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education was a great stepping-stone for me on many levels, as it didn’t just give me a taste of what it would be like to work and live in a foreign country, but it also helped me develop professional experience in the marketing and I.T sector, two fields I have great passion for.
The first few weeks were undoubtedly the toughest. Settling in my accommodation, getting used to the public transport, and getting accustomed to a specific work ethic found in a multi-cultural and diverse work environment, were all challenging to say the least. With this being said, as the days went by, and I started to get the hang of fending for myself in such a different environment from the one I’m used to. I must say that the idea of achieving my long-time goal of living across the pond, now, seems even more possible and needless to say realistic.
I am grateful for this opportunity and the assistance received from the staff handling the Erasmus+ traineeship programme at Saint Martin’s. And i encourage other students to expand their horizon and extend their work experience outside of Malta. It is fun and it helps!
Without it, I would still be wondering whether I would ever experience living and working in a European country.
Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education is pleased to encourage registered students for academic year 2019–2020 to participate in the Erasmus+ Traineeship programme.
The Institute has funds allocated that will assist students taking up the traineeship during the summer of 2020 by financing their flights and accommodation, together with a subsistence allowance.
The experience gained working with companies overseas will be great for your cv, and in the case of computing you will also earn ECTS for the recorded work assignments that you do whilst on the internship.
