Cheaper AND Better

Computing Degrees @ Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education

MCAST are distributing their brochures, door-to-door, announcing their part-time courses for 2019–2020.

We are pleased to confirm what we have been saying all along!

Reading for a Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education degree in Computing is cheaper than what MCAST is offering. And we leave it up to you to decide which is better …

Compare like with like …

@ MCAST a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Software Development with 180 ECTS at MQF level 6 costs €11,000, whilst a Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education BSc (Hons) Computing degree will cost you €10,255 with the same ECTS and studied over the same period of five years as an evening student.

Read the small print: ‘MCAST puts as an enrolment condition that the ‘decision whether MCAST commits to the delivery of a course depends directly on the number of confirmed and paid applications received. Once MCAST commits to deliver the course, the full value of the course becomes due by the Applicant, irrespective of failures, dropouts, or expulsions.’ This means that if you need to suspend your studies for any reason, you not only lose your GetQualified tax rebate, but also have to pay MCAST the full fee!

Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education, understands that studying for your degree in the evening is a tough choice to make, owing to work and family commitments, and therefore we do not impose any such conditions on the student!

The Institute offers monthly payments starting at €167 per month for the 9 months of the academic year, and the possibility of an exit certificate for every stage of studies. Students who are constrained to suspend their studies will be able to possess proof of their achievements — even if they do not complete the full honours degree!

First year of study; Higher Education Certificate in Computing
(MQF level 5, 30 ECTS) [total of 30 ECTS attained]

Second year of study; Diploma in Computing
(MQF level 5, 30 ECTS) [total of 60 ECTS attained]

(MQF level 6, 60 ECTS) [total of 120 ECTS attained]

Fifth year of study; BSc (Honours) Degree in Computing

A student who will successfully study for the full programme will be awarded the Diploma in Computing after two years of evening study, and the BSc (Hons) in Computing after the remaining three years.

If a student decides to stop after the first year of successful study, the student is awarded the Higher Education Certificate in Computing.
